Closing Ceremony of Beijing Week
On the morning of June3 (local time of Milan), in China Pavilion Banquet Hall of Milan Expo, the Bureau of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition Coordination held an "Exchange of Beijing-Milan Designers onBeijing Expo 2019" Forum with a theme of green exposition and urban sustainable development. The forum invited Architect Mr. Mario and Landscape Designer Mr. Andreas as Italian guest speakers. Mr. Lu Yichen, Architect of China Pavilion in Milan Expo and Mr. Yan Wei, Landscape Designer of Beijing Expo 2019 were invited as Chinese guest speakers. Integrating the experience in planning and design of Milan Expo, they jointly discussed the epoch topic of "Green Exposition and Urban Sustainable Development". In the forum, everyone spoke out freely and expressed their views, letting wisdom sparkle in the clash of ideas. It is reported that, in Beijing Week of Milan Expo, the Beijing Expo Coordination Bureau presented the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019, Beijing, China to more than 100,000 tourists from home and abroad, giving out more than 20,000 publicity brochures, and drawing wide attention.
Wang Jinzhen, Vice President of CCPIT, and Ye Dahua, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition Coordination are present in the forum.
Wang Jinzhen, Leading Government Representative of China Pavilion, and Vice President of CCPIT, expressed that, China is endowed with rich experience to hold large-scale expositions due to the fact that 1999 Kunming Horticultural Exposition and 2010 Shanghai Expo were held in China. In recent years, new exposition thoughts, concepts, and designs have appeared one after another. It was hoped that, through the forum, Chinese and Italian designers could exchange comprehensively to contribute ideas to International Horticultural Exhibition 2019,Beijing, China, making the event a green, splendid, and successful exposition.
Experts in the forum expected to explore an effective green architecture design standard through the practices in International Horticultural Exhibition 2019,Beijing, China so as to lead the development of green exposition architecture in China. At the site, some Italian design enterprises reached cooperation intention with domestic design institutes and would launch cooperation in horticultural exposition and other significant projects.

Some designers suggested that, the Park of Beijing Expo 2019 should explore New Normal in planning, turning from case-based planning to experience-based planning. The traditionaltheoretical method, focused on case analysis, shall be changed to encourage planners to get engaged and to experience, to think and research in visiting process, and to implement planning based on the experience as a visitor.
Some designers held that, the sustainable development of exposition could never go without green exposition buildings. Beijing Expo 2019 should encourage architects to research green exposition buildings, so as to lay a solid foundation for green design of architecture in the near future. They suggested that, we should take the lead in China to explore an effective green architecture design standard through the practices in Beijing Expo 2019, so as to lead the development of green exposition architecture in China.
Some designers proposed that, the 2019 International Horticultural Exhibition Park should be oriented totourists, enhancing humanistic design, and emphasizing service and improvement.
Some designers proposed that, park planning should take into consideration the problem of post-event sustainable utilization. Participation of social capital in park construction should be studied in planning phase to reduce the load of government investment. Moreover, park planning should be orderly connected with the planning of new urban area of Yanqing, with a plan well formulated. After the exposition, function of the park shall be quickly shifted from exposition to urban facilities.
Some designers held that, China is acclaimedas "Mother of the World's Horticulture" with age-old horticultural history and culture. Milan of Italy is acclaimedas "Fashion Capital of the World", with many greatest design masters in the world. Taking this forum as the opportunity, international cooperation between China and Italy should be enhanced. Park planning should reflect scientificity, openness, tolerance, and international view.
Some designers argued that, park planning should stick closely to the theme of "Green Life & Beautiful Home", adhere to the planning concepts of "Respecting Nature, Optimizing Ecology; Learning from Traditional Culture, Staying Open to New Ideas; Adding Technological Intelligence and Multiple Fashion Elements; Keeping Low-carbon, Green and Frugal in Organization; Insisting on People-First and Sustainable Development". Concept innovation shall be utilized to promote the development of horticultural exposition, and to lead the new direction of exposition.
The Beijing Expo 2019 will be planned according to the orientation and requirement of promoting green industry, advocating green development, and constructing beautiful China. We are looking forward to meeting in Beijing Expo 2019, to co-sharing green life and co-constructing beautiful home in the horticultural event, and on the international stage.
